Application letter know-how

Now I finally know, how to write an application letter to really get the job I want. Let's share my know-how...
There are three basic rules... Suck up! (Magnify all the good points of the company.) Be on the right place at the right time. And give the letter and your CV to headmaster of the company. Do not send it just like a ordinary mail or give it to first doorman you see.But a lot of other things can really help you. Just for example:
- attach your photo to CV
- write it by hand on non-white paper, best with a calligraphic pen
- exaggerate (but just a bit, say you were previously working for 4 months instead of 3)
- if you mention a CV, do it in full words (Curriculum Vitae)
And if you are successful with your letter and you are on a application conversation:
- bring your personality out
- if you are asked for a week points, mention just the nice ones (like: I can't reject, when someone is asking me for help.)
- Especially Americans love non-native accents. Don't try to speak in Oxford English, give it your own feel.
Here is the example of application letter for position of waitress:
Address of organization on left side, your address on right side.
RE: Waitress position
Dear Mr. Smith, / To whom it may concern, (if you don't know the name)
3 possibilities how to start this letter:
Enclosed please find my Curriculum Vitae (in US, use résumé instead) which I trust will be of interest to you.
/
I am enclosing my Curriculum Vitae which I trust will be of interest to you.
/
I am writing to you concerning your recent advertisement in the Irish Independent dated 4/6/O8 for waitressing staff in your prestigious hotel. I am enclosing my Curriculum Vitae which I trust will be of interest to you.
In 2. paragraph, make them look at your CV.
As you can see from my Curriculum Vitae I have extensive training and experience in this area. My most recent position being with Planet Hollywood, New York.
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and loved working as a team. It was wonderful meeting so many different nationalities and being exposed to so many different cultures.
Now, do a suck up!
I would greatly appreciate if you could consider my application for the position you are offering in your hotel. I have always enjoyed visiting Jory's hotel in the past and I would warmly welcome the opportunity of becoming part of your dynamic team.
I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.
Sincerely,
